Academic Advisement

From the outset of your college career, academic advisement is a vital part of your undergraduate experience. During the first week of freshman year, you are assigned a GSL faculty member as your academic advisor. You will meet with your advisor to discuss educational and professional objectives and techniques for succeeding in college. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor regularly, beginning in the first year. Together, students and their advisors establish working relationships that foster academic excellence and personal growth. Academic advisors also assist students in preparing for pre-registration each semester (in anticipation of the coming semester) by making sure students are on track for meeting requirements and by providing advice about choosing electives. Students maintain close contact with faculty advisors during their junior year, and in the senior year, students also work closely with their thesis supervisor.
